A talented Minecraft fan online has shared their impressive redesign of the Silverfish, making a mob that has now been in the game for 13 years feel fresh again. With Minecraft having been around for so long, some mobs have gone without a redesign for a long time, the Silverfish being one of them.

Minecraft boasts one of the most creative gaming communities online. It makes sense - it's a game where creativity is at the heart of its gameplay loop. As a result, there is no shortage of gamers online who enjoy sharing their ideas for mobs in Minecraft, whether that be new additions or reworks of existing creatures. Because there are so many, it takes something special to stand out from the crowd. There was even one Minecraft fan who designed a terrifying new version of the Ghast mob, making one of the game's scariest enemies even creepier. These types of fan redesigns have been popular for years, and there's no suggestion they're slowing down yet.

Redditor Godzilla_Fan_13 shared their impressive redesign of Minecraft's Silverfish, which makes them much larger and physically intimidating. While they lack the spikes of the current Silverfish, they make up for it in physical presence, being much longer than the mob in the current game. According to Godzilla_Fan_13, their design isn't fully finished yet, with plans to make the legs feel less stiff in the future. They do plan to make a mod out of the Silverfish redesign, and this is definitely a great starting point.

Minecraft Player Reimagines the Classic Silverfish Mob

The Silverfish was first introduced to Minecraft back in 2011, and while it felt novel for a while, it's one of the areas of the game that was left untouched by Mojang for many years. At this point, it's a legacy Minecraft mob that would massively benefit from a visual upgrade. The behavior of the mob doesn't even have to change - it works fine as is, but making it look more intimidating would be a great way to make the 13-year-old mob feel fresh all over again.

December 2024 is set to be a great month for Minecraft fans. It was recently revealed that Minecraft's The Garden Awakens update is arriving on December 3, which will see the addition of the Pale Garden biome. On top of this, the long-awaited Creaking mob will also be added, providing a fresh batch of new content for all players to enjoy.
