A Brazilian journalist mentioned that old-school Ubisoft games could arrive on the Switch in 2025, aiming to capitalize on the console's massive player base. Nintendo's strategy would be to rely on third-party publishers like Ubisoft to sustain the Switch's library while the Japanese company dedicates its efforts to the handheld's successor.
Ubisoft has been going through a rough patch lately. Star Wars Outlaws sales fell short of expectations, leading to a drop in Ubisoft's stock and triggering an in-depth review of the French publisher's internal operations. This reassessment caused the company to delay the release of Assassin's Creed Shadows, initially set for November 15, but now with a release date of February 14, 2025. Ubisoft has admitted that its free-to-play shooter XDefiant didn't meet expectations but denies rumors of a shutdown. Due to the struggles, Ubisoft has stated that it's considering going private with Tencent's backing.

Ubisoft Lowers the Assassin's Creed Shadows Collector's Edition Price
Ubisoft confirms that the Collector's Edition of Assassin's Creed Shadows will have a significantly lower price once its pre-orders return.
1Despite these setbacks, the company's development pipeline hasn't come to a halt. According to journalist Pedro Henrique Lutti Lippe, known as tvPH on YouTube, Ubisoft is preparing old games for release on the Switch in 2025. One of them would be a remaster of Splinter Cell Blacklist, which is a separate project from the previously reported Splinter Cell remake. Another title is said to be a remaster of Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc, originally released in 2003.
Insider Claims Ubisoft Will Remaster Games for The Nintendo Switch
Pedro Henrique says he's unsure if the Rayman 3 remaster is the same remake recently reported that is allegedly in the hands of the now-disbanded Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown developers. The journalist didn't reveal the names of the other two Ubisoft titles coming to the Nintendo Switch, but he confirmed their production. In the comments, he mentioned that these games would most likely be released on other platforms as well.
Pedro's information extends beyond Ubisoft. According to him, Nintendo is leaning on other third-party publishers to continue feeding the Switch player base with remasters of old games. Bandai Namco and EA are two different companies that are dedicating efforts to support Nintendo. Rumors have long suggested that Bandai was remastering a Nintendo game, with many speculating that it might be Kid Icarus.
Finally, Pedro emphasized that Nintendo itself would bring more remasters in 2025, in addition to the already announced Donkey Kong Country Returns HD. He withheld specific titles but teased that one game was originally for the GameCube and the other for the Nintendo 3DS. The insider previously shared this information in May, claiming that the Switch would receive two major titles in 2025. Although Pedro has a solid track record, this information is still a rumor and must be taken with a grain of salt.
