Pokemon Leak Suggests Gen 10 is Coming to an Unexpected Platform

If recent leaks are accurate, it seems as though the Generation 10 Pokemon games are coming to the original Nintendo Switch as well as the console's successor. Nintendo has not officially announced the Switch successor console at the time of this writing, but it's expected to be revealed at some point within the next six months or so. When the console is released, it will inevitably get plenty of new Pokemon games.

Fans have long assumed that the next main series Pokemon games, Generation 10, would be exclusive to Nintendo's successor console. After all, Nintendo has already released all kinds of Pokemon games for the existing Switch, with another one on the way in the form of Pokemon Legends: Z-A. The Switch has been home to multiple Pokemon remakes and two whole generations with their own distinct regions, so it would make sense for the next game in the series to be exclusive to the new console instead.

On the contrary, information stemming from the massive Game Freak leak suggests that there are currently two versions of the Generation 10 Pokemon games in development - one for the Switch 2, or whatever it ends up being called, and one for the original Switch. The next Nintendo console is expected to offer many of the same features as the existing Switch, but with significantly improved hardware for better graphics and performance.

Pokemon Gen 10 Rumored for Both Switch 1 and Switch 2

Since main series Pokemon games are released in pairs, perhaps one version will be exclusive to one console and one to the other. After all, the Switch 2 is expected to be backward compatible with original Switch games, so it would almost be redundant to release Generation 10 across both platforms if there aren't major differences between the two versions. However, that's just speculation at this time. But until Nintendo and The Pokemon Company decide to officially announce the Generation 10 Pokemon games, all fans can do is speculate about what they have to offer.

Other rumors and leaks about the Generation 10 Pokemon games have led fans to believe that the titles will take place in a region inspired by Greece. With Pokemon Legends: Z-A still without a gameplay trailer, let alone a release date, it will likely be quite a long time before fans find out for sure if the rumors about the Generation 10 Pokemon games are true or not. Needless to say, future Pokemon Presents events are going to be very interesting.
