Nintendo has released a new console update for the Switch, fixing a few issues some players experienced after installing a previous patch. As the gaming world waits for news about Nintendo’s next mainline console, the legendary company continues fine-tuning its highly successful Nintendo Switch console with patches and updates. Earlier this month, Nintendo released Switch Update 19.0.0, which improved stability across nearly every system component.
While this was done mainly to enhance the user experience, there were reportedly a few drawbacks to the most recent Nintendo Switch update. Not too long after Switch Update 19.0.0 went live on October 7, players began claiming that they were having problems with sleep mode, battery life, downloads, and even the console overheating. Others reportedly experienced issues with the Nintendo GameCube controller adapter, saying that it wouldn’t function until they restarted their Nintendo Switch.

New Nintendo Switch 2 Release Window Leaks Explained
The Nintendo Switch 2 could be hitting shelves later than initially expected, according to recent leaks and rumors about its production schedule.
1These users have continued reporting their problems to Nintendo, and some of the issues in question are being addressed in yet another new update. Earlier this week, Nintendo launched Switch version 19.0.1, a smaller update that corrects the issue of the Nintendo GameCube Controller Connection Tap not being recognized by the console. It also fixes a glitch that prevents communication processes like Switch software downloads from functioning properly during sleep mode. Additionally, an issue causing battery life estimates to be incorrect has been addressed.
As previously mentioned, plenty of Nintendo fans are looking to the future and the impending announcement of the next Nintendo console. The tentatively named Switch 2 will reportedly be unveiled sometime before the end of the current fiscal year next March, but it’s anyone’s guess when exactly the company will pull back the curtain on its newest piece of hardware. Recently, Nintendo chip manufacturer Macronix hinted that the console could launch sometime within the next few quarters, and many believe the announcement could happen in the next few weeks.
In the meantime, Nintendo is continuing to support the current Nintendo Switch console, which has become one of the best-selling systems of all time since its initial launch back in 2017. Fans will also have plenty of new games to play on the Switch as they wait to see the new console, as Mario & Luigi: Brothership is set to launch on November 7, Donkey Kong Country Returns HD is coming on January 16, and Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition is making the jump from the Nintendo Wii U on March 20.
