Today, NVIDIA announced major changes to its GeForce NOW cloud streaming service. Firstly, the middle tier, previously known as Priority, has been rebranded to Performance and also received a visual fidelity boost. Whereas the Priority tier only allowed up to 1080p resolution, Performance supports up to 1440p, and Ultrawide resolutions, previously exclusive to Ultimate, are also now supported by this tier. Moreover, in-game graphics settings can now be saved on the cloud, ensuring users don't have to reapply them at every new session. All current Priority members will automatically be upgraded to Performance and can start enjoying the enhanced streaming experience right away.

However, NVIDIA also introduced a monthly hour cap for playtime. Both Performance and Ultimate tiers can play up to 100 hours each month; the company says this is within the usual playtime of 94% of GeForce NOW users anyway. The change will help NVIDIA ensure GFN can provide short queues as well as excellent speed and quality. GeForce NOW members will be able to keep track of their monthly playtime through their account portal page. Up to fifteen hours of unused playtime can roll over to the next month for members. For those few GeForce NOW players who really need more hours, $2.99 will provide 15 extra hours of the Performance tier, while $5.99 will buy you 15 extra hours of the Ultimate tier.

This change won't affect existing GFN accounts right away. In fact, every active paid member as of December 31, 2024 will be able to continue taking advantage of unlimited playtime until January 2026 (provided they keep their subscription running, of course).

As with any GFN Thursday, NVIDIA added some new PC games, too:

● Planet Coaster 2 (New release on Steam, Nov. 6)
● Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Splintered Fate (New release on Steam, Nov. 6)
● Empire of the Ants (New release on Steam, Nov. 7)
● Unrailed 2: Back on Track (New release on Steam, Nov. 7)
● TCG Card Shop Simulator (Steam)
